WHAT WE DO

I am a Falcon Naturalist.

We are a group that backs up our words with actions. After the pandemic our community had fallen out of shape and was looking for a way to exercise while being social and enjoying what our San Diego community has to offer.
Our solution; The Torrey Pines Falcons Naturalists! A group that meets, to get outdoors and enjoy our local State Reserve Torrey Pines! We are always looking for new members and new places to go so if you know a place or are interested in joining a hike please reach out!

OUR MISSION STATEMENT AND WHO WE ARE

Our mission is to improve the lives of adults with disabilities by providing opportunities to volunteer with the State of California by learning about the different environments in the San Diego area. Through our hiking and restoration activities, we promote physical activity, environmental stewardship, and community involvement while fostering a sense of accomplishment and belonging among our volunteers. By working together, we strive to create a cleaner, healthier, and more inclusive environment for everyone.

We are the Torrey Pines Falcon Naturalists! We are a volunteer group based out of the Torrey Pines State Reserve in San Diego, California. Our group is a mix of Neuro-diverse adults, meaning we have some typical adults and some of our members have a disability, but that doesn't stop any of us from being the change we want to see in the world! Our program provides opportunities for individuals to contribute to their community and gain new skills through volunteer work and education. We aim to provide a supportive environment that accommodates the unique needs of participants and matches them with appropriate challenges. Benefits can include increased self-esteem, socialization, and job skills!

Our group started in 2016 with a little volunteering at the Reserve. Years later a parent became a docent at the Torrey, a few connections were made and that lead to the group forming. We learn, volunteer and hike at the park weekly! Our group loves to learn about all the different wildlife that our beautiful State Reserve and city of San Diego has to offer! We have now expanded my taking our talents to our local and state parks and beaches! Be on the look out for us!
